Revolutionair organiseren van onderop, wat kan dat zijn?
Hoe kunnen we vanuit de realiteit van vandaag een alternatief bouwen voor een nieuwe samenleving? Individualisme en uitbuiting tegengaan en solidariteit kweken, hoe kunnen we dat aanpakken terwijl veel mensen in onze buurten bezig zijn met overleven? Verzet tegen kapitalisme, de staat, patriarchale en racistische omstandigheden wordt vaak georganiseerd vanuit een radicaal-linkse of anarchistische beweging die soms groter is dan anders, maar vaak wordt gezien als een bubbel in plaats van wortels te hebben in de samenleving. Hoewel verschillende tactieken op hun eigen manier verschil kunnen maken, is grootschalige verandering uiteindelijk wat revolutionairen willen. Maar hoe - zonder nieuwe machthebbers te creëren? Wat zijn ideeën voor initiatieven die revolutionaire potentie hebben?
De stadsdeelbond Solidarisch in Gröpelingen is van mening dat voor revolutionaire verandering niet kan worden gestreden door een kleine radicaal-linkse scene, maar door een bredere, op klasse gebaseerde beweging. Daarom zijn ze al enkele jaren aan het organiseren in een van de armere wijken van Bremen. Hun doel is om een georganiseerde sociale beweging op te bouwen die geworteld is in arme wijken, waarin mensen zich organiseren om te vechten voor concrete verbeteringen in hun levensomstandigheden, maar ook voor een fundamentele verandering in de samenleving. Ze beschrijven hun praktijk als revolutionair basiswerk (revolutionäre Basisarbeit) met als doel het opbouwen van macht van onderaf als een middel voor fundamentele verandering. Met dit doel combineren ze juridisch advies met algemene vergaderingen, straatmobilisaties, onderwijs en de ontwikkeling van een cultuur van solidariteit.
In een infotour tussen 15 en 19 januari 2024 in de steden Nijmegen, Groningen en Amsterdam doen activisten van Solidarisch in Gröpelingen verslag van hun concrete praktijk en ervaringen en over de theoretische overwegingen erachter. De avond duurt 2 uur en bestaat uit een praatje en een discussie. De voertaal is Engels, met Nederlandse vertaling als dat nodig is.

Revolutionary organizing from below, what could that be?
How can we build an alternative for a new society from today’s reality?
Countering individualism and exploitation and cultivating solidarity, how can we tackle that while many people in our neighbourhoods are busy surviving? Resistance to capitalism, the state, patriarchal and racist conditions is often organised from a radical left or anarchist movement that is sometimes bigger than other times, but is often seen as a bubble rather than having roots in society. While various tactics can make a difference in their own way, large-scale change is ultimately what revolutionaries want. But how - without creating new rulers? What are ideas for initiatives that have revolutionary potential?
The district union Solidarisch in Gröpelingen is of the opinion that revolutionary change cannot be fought for by a small radical left scene, but of a broader class based movement. That is why they have been organizing in one of Bremen’s poorer districts for several years. Their aim is to build an organized social movement rooted in poor neighbourhoods, in which people organize themselves to fight for concrete improvements in their living conditions, but also for a fundamental change in society. They describe their practice as revolutionary grassroot work (revolutionäre Basisarbeit) with the aim of building power from below as a vehicle of fundamental change. To this end, they combine legal advice with general assemblies, street mobilizations, education and the development of a culture of solidarity.
